Take care of the environment while taking care of your car. Recycle used motor oil and filters after every change. Recycling is the safest way to dispose of these items...and it's easy! There are two ways Long Beach residents can recycle motor oil and filters:
1. We'll pick them up.
As part of the Residential Recycling Program, you can request a pickup of your used motor oil and filters.
Here's what you need to do:
Call (800) RECYCL2 or use the form at right to schedule a used oil pickup or to request used oil containers and filter bags.
Motor oil and filters will be collected only after you have requested a pickup. Note: Your request must be received before 4:00 p.m. the workday before your regular refuse and recycling collection day. Requests made after the that time will be scheduled for your collection day a week later.
On your scheduled used oil collection day, place motor oil and filters two feet away from your recycling cart (not inside the cart).
Motor oil MUST be in a special container for curbside collection, which you can also request online or by phone.
Do not leave motor oil or filters out unless you have requested a pickup.
2. Drop them off at a Collection Center
Place used motor oil or filter into any sealed container and take it to one of the conveniently located certified collection centers listed below. You'll receive 16 cents for each gallon of motor oil you recycle at these centers.
